Obituary - Marcella Anderson Hefner

OMAHA — Marcella Anderson Hefner, 86, Omaha, formerly of Coleridge, died Aug. 11, 2009, at her residence after a long illness.
Visitation and a vigil service were Aug. 13 at Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued at the church Friday one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 14 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Jeff Loseke officiating.
Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Coleridge.
Pallbearers were Mike Nanfito, Josh Nanfito, Kevin Foreman, Chris McConnell, Duane Wuebben and Galen Hoffart.
Honorary pallbearers were the Coleridge Christian Mothers, Wilma Hochstein, Pat Gleason, LaDonna Burbach, Mary Ann Brandl, Marie Koch, Elsie Lauer and Jackie Domina, and also the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Shirley Arens and Doris Orwig.

Marcella was born July 26, 1923, in Butte, to Eugene and Lavina (Becker) Wuebben. After graduating from high school, she received her Normal Teachers Training at Wayne State College. She taught rural elementary school, worked as a Doctor’s receptionist, sold Tupperware, farmed, milked cows and retired from the State of Nebraska Department of Travel and Tourism. Marcella married Donnie Anderson Jan. 14, 1943, in Bow Valley. Don died Oct. 9, 1975. Marcella married Gerhardt “Short” Hefner Dec. 1, 1979, in Coleridge. Gerhardt died Oct. 26, 1986, at the age of 65.
Marcella is survived by a son and wife, Ron and Diane Anderson, North Bend; two daughters, Merikay Nanfito Anderson and Rebecca Anderson, Omaha; former son-in-law, Joe Nanfito; three step-daughters, Caroline Olson, LeClaire, Iowa; Teresa Prentice, Kansas City, Kan.; Hedy and husband, Ed Winkelbauer, Omaha; step-son, Dr. George and wife, Denise Hefner, Lake Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Deloris Dooley, Hartington, and Sheri Buck, Boulder, Colo.; one brother and wife, Eugene and Rosemary Wuebben, St. Helena; sister-in-law and husband, Dolores and Wendell Hahne, Norfolk; three brothers-in-law and wives, Elroy and Carol Rae Hefner, George V. and Kay Hefner, and Franklin and Janice Hefner, all of Coleridge; and sister-in-law, Avis Hefner, Sioux City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Don Anderson and Gerhardt Hefner; and sister, Lorraine Pinkelman.
