Memorial Day activities slated

COLERIDGE — Coleridge will hold its traditionals activitites this Memorial Day along with many others across the nation.
The Avenue of Flags will be flown starting on Saturday. Flags will be raised to half-mast at sunrise Monday morning. The Avenue of Flags, sponsored by the American Legion Carl Korff Post #114 will be flown through Monday in tribute to service personnel who courageously served their country.

Building Will Be Beautified

COLERIDGE — The building at the corner of Broadway and Main in Coleridge will take on a new look during the next few weeks.
Most folks remember it as the “old” Coleridge Nursing Home
The original hotel crest on the front of the building will be more visible and a touch of life will appear in the windows.
“It was a way to spruce up a building and not spend a whole lot of money,” said Diane Wemhoff who is heading up the project.

Coleridge family has strong military ties

COLERIDGE — Aaron Olsen will be the fourth generation of his family to serve in the military.
The seventeen year old will be at Fort Jackson, South Carolina by the end of this week.
For the next nine weeks Aaron will be completing his basic training for the Army and the National Guard.

Village residents will get new TV service

COLERIDGE — Coleridge residents will soon have a change in their cable TV.
Terry Eriksen, Assistant General Manager with Northeast Nebraska Telephone Company, met with the Coleridge Village Board of Trustees May 12.
IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), which is a next generation digital television signal, is coming to Coleridge.

Local family has strong military history

COLERIDGE — Aaron Olsen will be the fourth generation of his family to serve in the military.
The seventeen year old will be at Fort Jackson, South Carolina by the end of this week.
For the next nine weeks Aaron will be completing his basic training for the Army and the National Guard.
Serving in the military has been something Aaron has always wanted to do but he made a definite decision in the fall of 2007.
“I initially made the decision during football two-a-days,” Aaron said.
