Speech champions show off

HARTINGTON — Hartington Public School speech students performed for friends, family and community members at a special HPS Speech Night performance Thursday night.

Many of the local students’ Conference winning speeches were performed at the event.

Actions of Randolph Ec Dev Coordinator are questioned

RAPID CITY, S.D. — Past dealings in a former position are causing controversy for Randolph’s new economic development coordinator.
Rapid City, S.D. Mayor Alan Hanks said he wants criminal charges brought against Michael Schumache, a former Rapid City alderman who used the mayor’s city e-mail address as the purported source of comments posted on a political Web site.

Hartington school is part of national meat recall

HARTINGTON — Several schools in Cedar County have been affected by the U.S. government decision to recall 143 million pounds of meat that may be unsafe.
The meat came to the schools through the state of Nebraska as a commodity product.

Kenny Meier celebrates 30 years with State Patrol

HARTINGTON — For the last 30 years, Kenny Meier has been doing what he always wanted to do.
Meier was recently honored for 30 years of service with the Nebraska State Patrol.
Bryan Tuma, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol, presented Meier a plaque which stated their appreciation for his long and faithful service to the State Patrol and the state of Nebraska.
