Obituary - Diana R. McClintock

CROFTON - Diana Ruth McClintock, age 56 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Church of Christ Congregational in Crofton with the Rev. Les Parmenter officiating.  Burial will be at the Crofton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 from 4-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.

NSAA reshuffles Football Classes, Districts

LINCOLN — The Nebraska School Activities Association has just released its classification breakdown and District assignments for the next two football seasons.
The NSAA reshuffles its six classes and all Districts every two years based on changes in school enrollment.
Hartington and Cedar Catholic will see several new District foes this year.

Cedar girls claim lopsided Holiday Tny win

HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans earned a lopsided 63-26 first-round win over Wynot in the Cedar Catholic Holiday Tournament Friday.
Cedar will now take on Elgin Pope John in the title game.
The Crusaders defeated Humphrey St. Francis 58-48 to advance to Saturday’s title game.

Cedar’s offense was led on the night by Kala Sudbeck, who hit for a team-high 14 points. Amber Wortmann added eight points for Cedar, which saw 11 different girls score in the contest.
Wynot will face Humphrey St. Francis in the consolation game at 2:45 p.m. while Cedar will face Elgin Pope John in the championship game Saturday at 6:15 p.m.

Obituary - Olga Bottolfsen

HARTINGTON — Olga Marie Bottolfsen, 93, Hartington, died Dec. 11, 2007, at the Golden Living Center, Hartington.
Visitation, with a prayer service and video tribute, was Friday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to services on Saturday at the Church.
Funeral Services were Dec. 15 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with Rev. Bob Bryan officiating.
Burial was at Paragon Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hartington.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Gene Boysen, Darin Boysen, Martin Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Nick Bottolfsen, Scott Bottolfsen, Troy Bottolfsen, Todd Bottolfsen and Trent Bottolfsen.

Obituary - Jim Gray, Jr.

COLERIDGE — Jim Gray Jr., 61, Coleridge, died Dec. 15, 2007, at the Providence Medical Center, Wayne, after suffering a heart attack while watching a wrestling meet in Wayne.
Visitation, with a prayer service and video tribute, was Dec. 18 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. Visitation continued Dec. 19 one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Dec. 19, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, with Rev. Andreas Stein officiating.
Burial will be in the Coleridge Cemetery.

HARTINGTON — Evelyn M. Bruning, 92, Hartington, died Dec. 13, 2007, at the Park View Haven Nursing Home. Coleridge.
Visitation, with a rosary, vigil service and video tribute, was Dec. 14 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and continued one hour prior to services Dec. 15 at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 15 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. John Pietramale officiating.

County native builds Harley parts

LINCOLN —  Nick McKim will soon be closing out another successful year with a company in Lincoln he has built from the ground up.
McKim, a 1988 Coleridge High School graduate, is the president of Innovative Metal Technologies, better known as IMT.
It has been almost nine years since the origin of IMT. Along the way, McKim’s business started making motorcycle parts.
In 2007, IMT started manufacturing custom parts for Harley Davidson and other metric motorcycles.

NECC building named after Arlo Wirth

NORFOLK — A long-time member of the Northeast Community College Board of Governors will be posthumously honored with the dedication of the former Utility Line Building on campus in his name.
The public is invited to a special ceremony to mark the change in name to the Arlo Wirth Building.  The ceremony will take place on Thursday, January 10, at 4:30 p.m., following the regular monthly meeting of the Northeast Board of Governors.

Freeholding case could drag into 2009

WYNOT—  A legal quagmire concering property taxes and school alegeance continues to drag on.
The Freeholding issue, which has allowed the tax base of the Wynot School District to erode, could still have a different outcome — it has now moved into a higher court in Nebraska.
The issue appeared it might spell the end of the Wynot School District before the district joined into an interlocal agreement this year with the Newcastle, Coleridge and Laurel-Concord school districts to share staff and services.
Attorney Dave Domina represents several people from the Wynot School District who appealed the results of action taken at three separate Freeholding Board meetings and two District Court hearings.

Hartington sees improvements thanks to donations

HARTINGTON — Donations have made a difference in Hartington.
Over $65,000 was donated in the last 18 months for two local projects.
The purchase of the $100 engraved bricks for the fountain at Felber Park, donated labor, services and materials, as well as a grant, all contributed to the fund-raising efforts.
The two projects receiving the various donations include the Felber Park Enhancement project that received $56,500 in donations and the new Community Complex road landscaping project, which received $9,367 in donations.
Combined, the two projects cost a total of $78,735. Of that, 84 percent of the total cost, $65,967, was contributed by donors and a grant, with the city of Hartington picking up the remaining cost of $12,768.
