OMAHA — The 2009 Class D State Track Meet was one of both highs and lows for the Coleridge teams. The Lady Bulldogs had one qualifier, Senior Sophie Wemhoff, in the Shot Put, while the Bulldogs sent two qualifiers, Seniors Seth Schroeder in the 400 and Tyler Hefner in the 200.
Schroeder and Hefner both participated in their events in the late afternoon and early evening hours Friday. Wemhoff threw for her event Saturday.

Bulldogs move on to District finals

HARTINGTON — One more win.
That’s all the Coleridge Bulldogs need to make it to the State Basketball Tournament.
The Bulldogs raced out to an early lead against the Wynot Blue Devils in the D2-7 SubDistrict finals at Cedar Catholic High School Thursday and never looked back.
The number-one seeded Blue Devils could not get an edge on the Dawgs and dropped out of the race to State, 44-32.

Coleridge Lady Bulldog senior Taylor Olsen, daughter of Kirk and Sharon Olsen, reached a milestone in scoring last week during her final home basketball game. Olsen hit a long jumpshot from the wing to pass the 1,000 career point mark. She was presented with two basketballs and posters were hung in the gym to celebrate the special moment. Olsen had no idea she was close to hitting the mark, but her teammates and fans did. They erupted in cheers when she hit the shot.

Olsen hits milestone with jumper

COLERIDGE — Parents’ Night held an exciting surprise for a Coleridge senior Thursday.
Throughout her four years on the Lady Bulldog basketball team, senior Taylor Olsen has been a scoring machine.
The timing couldn’t have been better as last Thursday during her last home game and Parents’ Night, Olsen reached an impressive milestone by reaching 1,000 points in her high school career.
Hitting a long two-point shot early in the fourth quarter put her over the mark by one point.
Olsen’s team and fans exploded with excitement, but she had no clue why. Near the end of the game, with 20 seconds left on the clock, Coach Ken Swanson called a time out so she could have her moment in the spotlight.

Lady Blue wraps up Lewis & Clark West title

Coleridge — The Coleridge Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the Lewis and Clark West title with a big win over Wynot here Thursday. The win put the gals in blue back on the winning track after an upset loss to Orchard.
The Lady Bulldogs are now wrapped up in Lewis and Clark Conference play.

Lady Blue tosses Wausa to the side

COLERIDGE — The Lady Blue easily disposed of Lewis and Clark Conference powerhouse Wausa here Friday to move to 10-1 on the year.
The Lady Blue raced past Wausa 58-35 in the contest.
Stephanie Banks put the Lady Vikings on top early but the lead was short lived.
Coleridge took control after that by putting together an 11-0 run. Kelsey Papenhausen capped the run when she connected on a bucket and a free throw with 3:10 left in the opening quarter.
